QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
Mechanical aptitude.
Acceptable written communication skills.
Highly Desired
Experience of ability to use smartphone and/or tablet i.e. (iPad) , computer software, and/or maintenance software
Experience repairing and maintaining kitchen equipment.
Experience in repairing and maintaining custodial equipment.
Experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and/or carpentry
Experience in some form of building maintenance
Experience in mechanics
Experience in customer service in responding to repairs
Experience in preventative maintenance
Experience using computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Maintenance management software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Function as a Maintenance Mechanic in the daily operation of Merle Price Commons and University Dining Services. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, preventive maintenance and repair of all building systems and related food service equipment. This position is cross trained in building maintenance and food service equipment at Memorial Student Center. Position functions as a lead worker for students, and Limited term Employees (LTE). Use of good judgment for these duties with minimum supervision, the ability to comply with all recognized health and safety practices and the ability to comprehend complex verbal and/or written instructions.
Starting wage is $25/hr. and based off of qualification, experience, and available budget. The UW System also provides excellent benefits package, paid time off, and participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan . A six-month probationary period is required.
