The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2023. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $23.76 - $33.43 per hour.

Distinguishing Features of Work
An employee in this class operates and services equipment used in the design, fabrication, installation and maintenance of traffic signs and pavement markings. Duties include operating computer aided design software to design traffic signs, updating and maintaining electronic traffic sign inventories, and placing and maintaining temporary traffic control devices. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

FREQUENT: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; near, midrange, and far vision; depth perception; field of vision; visual accommodation; color vision; hear within 20 feet; climb ladders and stairs; feel; use fingers; grasp; handle; move about; reach; reach above shoulder; sit; squat; stand; stoop/bend; talk/speak; twist at waist; turn wrist right and left; exposure to weather; extreme noise; vibration and mechanical hazards; slippery surfaces; work alone, with and around others; customer/public contact; work inside; work outside; and drive. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 100 pounds; crouch; kneel; maintain posture; rotate neck; chemicals; and moving objects.
Selection Process
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
- High School diploma or its equivalent.
- Possession of a Class ‘B’ Commercial Driver's License without an airbrake restriction.
- Four (4) years full-time experience in a county road maintenance division classification; OR, four (4) years full-time paid verifiable experience in road construction/maintenance, residential or commercial construction/maintenance.
