LEARNING SCIENTIST

Best Buy has an opening for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist position. This position will report to corporate headquarters in Richfield, Minnesota. This position provides a telecommuting benefit allowing the employee to reside anywhere in the continental United States. The Senior Machine Learning Scientist will take the lead researching, developing, and applying cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to build innovative technologies, services, and products. Duties include: take the lead researching and developing signal processing and classification algorithms for physiological and physical activity signals; mine large structured and unstructured data to appropriately glean actionable insights; use statistical methods to test data-driven hypotheses; lead algorithm development plans, machine learning algorithm design, algorithm integration, optimization, and implementation; ensure execution and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), detailed project tracking and documentation; collaborate with software engineers, embedded engineers, and research scientists on product-focused teams to implement and deploy scalable solutions; lead discussions with technical and non-technical members regarding machine learning science solutions; conduct logical analyses of business, scientific, engineering, and other technical problems, formulating mathematical models of problems for solution by computers; apply theoretical expertise and innovation to create or apply new technology. There are multiple positions available. Requires Master's degree or equivalent foreign degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Position also requires 4 years of experience in developing software that facilitates AI/Machine learning algorithms and models; supervised and unsupervised learning methods; programming & data engineering languages (Matlab, Python, R, C, C++, and/or SQL). This position requires travel to corporate headquarters in Richfield, Minnesota at least once a year. The pay ranges from $89,960/year to $102,898/year.
