JOB POSITION: Principal Engineer

LOCATION: 1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403

DUTIES: Serve as a technical leader in architecting, building, and deploying network connectivity solutions. Set the direction for how software and infrastructure engineering efforts will be designed, developed, and operationalized. Determine network requirements including platforms, bandwidths and schemas. Understand business and technical environments and assist teams in resolving complex business challenges by assessing viability/applicability/cost implication. Lead and approve software and infrastructure engineering efforts to meet functional and nonfunctional requirements. Participate in procurement specifications, installation, and maintenance of systems. Serve as a strong advocate of extreme agile and DevOps practices. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members. Work with leadership to develop plans that support moving to Open Technology for the network. Utilize Kubernetes; Cloud tech; enterprise and Cloud network architectures; Switching Operating Systems: Cumulus, SONiC, Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS; Network Protocols: BGP, Spanning Tree, LLDP, MCLAG, LACP, ISIS, VXLAN; Network Hardware; Grafana; OEM; ODM; Linux Operating Systems; Network switching topologies (L2/L3/L4); Spanning Tree; LACP; VRRP; and MCLAG. May telecommute from any location in the U.S.

REQUIREMENTS: At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Networking, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, and at least twelve (12) years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in network engineering or computer engineering (any title). Must include at least seven (7) years designing and implementing network solutions, configuring or migrating, and using Cisco. Must also include at least 3 years monitoring and controlling the entire network for a Fortune 100 company; working with open networking switches; working with public clouds; and using Azure, AWS, GCP, Openstack, and VMware. May telecommute from any location in the U.S.

In the alternative, the employer will accept at least a Master's degree in Computer Networking, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, and at least ten (10) years of experience in network engineering or computer engineering (any title). Must include at least seven (7) years designing and implementing network solutions, configuring or migrating, and using Cisco. Must also include at least 3 years monitoring and controlling the entire network for a Fortune 100 company; working with open networking switches; working with public clouds; and using Azure, AWS, GCP, Openstack, and VMware. May telecommute from any location in the U.S.
