Minimum / Required
- Earned Doctoral degree by August 2024 in Networking/IT/Cybersecurity or related discipline.
- Commitment to teaching undergraduate CNIT/Cybersecurity courses.
- Evidence of teaching ability at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, in-person and/or online.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated knowledge or technical experience related to IT and cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated skills such as Network Programmability & Automation and Firewall technologies (e.g. Palo Alto).
- Current industry-recognized certification(s) within the field of IT and cybersecurity, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification and Cisco Certified Instructor.
- Record of research publication(s) in information technology and cybersecurity.
- Commitment to cultivating a climate (learning and work environment) that embraces inclusion.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, especially those supporting the BS CNIT and BS Cybersecurity programs. Curriculum development; research and scholarly activity; academic advisement; maintain partnerships with industry; course and program assessment of student learning in collaboration with faculty and staff; and service to the department and the university are expected along with other duties as assigned by the department chair.DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
The Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Department offers all the core courses necessary for the Cybersecurity program (~79), the Computer Networking and Information Technology program (~102), the ABET-accredited Computer Science program (~462 students), the Applied Mathematics and Computer Science program (~111 students), as well as coursework supporting the ABET-accredited Computer and Electrical Engineering program (~185 students).
Since 2017, University of Wisconsin-Stout has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
UW-Stout is the first four-year university to receive this designation in the state of Wisconsin. The NSA and DHS have certified that UW-Stout's CNIT curriculum meets or exceeds the requirements for CAE designation, as cited by the National Information Assurance Education and Training Program (NIETP).
Recently, the CNIT program was awarded Department of Defense Cybersecurity grants to support cybersecurity curricula development and cybersecurity capacity building. CNIT students have repeatedly won recognition for their IT and security skills in national and international competitions.

The department is committed to student-centered and technology-enhanced instruction. Technology usage includes students working on laptops in the classroom, web enhancements (e.g., Canvas course management and online homework systems), and interactive distance education course. Our department members actively serve and participate in a wide range of prominent research conferences and communities, both regionally and on the international stage.
