DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives has an immediate need for either a Full-time Constituent Services Specialist/Writer position or a full-time Constituent Services Legislative Assistant position. Both positions require good communications, customer service, and human relations skills. Frequent public contact necessary. Somali language proficiency required; Somali writing and translating strongly preferred.
Constituent Service Specialist/Writer– Somali Language
Primary responsibilities include casework, research, and writing services for the DFL members of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Additional duties include a focus on Somali constituencies and translation.
Proven writing and organizational abilities required. Working knowledge of the legislative and political process is essential to effectively function in this position. A demonstrated ability to provide research and analysis within assigned issue areas is strongly preferred.
Must have the ability to work long and irregular hours, especially during session. BA or BS desired.
Entry salary starts at $2,394.17 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
Legislative Assistant – Somali Language
Full-time Legislative Assistant position with the DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives to provide support for the DFL Constituent Services Department.
Primary responsibilities include constituent casework, advocacy, and administrative support for the DFL Constituent Services Division and the DFL members of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Additional duties include a focus on Somali constituencies and translation.
Position requires proven writing and editing abilities, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail. Must have the ability to work long and irregular hours especially during session. Knowledge of state government and the legislative process desired. BA/BS desired.
Entry salary starts at $1,943.16 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience.
