Vendor Income is a critical component of margin results, profitability, and promotional effectiveness. The Vendor Income Expert is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Target's Vendor Income process and strategy, customized to a business category. As a Vendor Income Expert, you will facilitate funding agreements with Target merchants and vendors and execute the Vendor Income strategy. You will be accountable to delivering financial results and delivering on best practices. The Vendor Income Expert is a key business consultant to Divisional Merchandise Managers (DMMs), Merchants, BP&N Leads, Finance/Merchandise Finance (MFA), and vendors. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Vendor Income Operations, and support the Dry and Dairy/Frozen divisions.
Some additional duties and responsibilities include leading the development of best practices for vendor income strategy and processes for total Target, while applying business acumen and insight to identify gaps and customize for a defined business category (division +). You will develop a deep understanding of and influence merchant business strategies, objectives, and outcomes. You will synthesize best practices with deep business context, financial analytics, and negotiation expertise to drive vendor-specific solutions. Cross-functional partnership is critical in this role; some of your key cross-functional partners include merchants and finance/accounting partners (including US and Global teams). You will leverage strong critical thinking and communication skills to support, implement, and train best practices within the vendor income process. You will be responsible for proactively identifying risks and opportunities while escalating and recommending solutions and action plans to merchants, as necessary. With the authority to approve vendor income agreements on behalf of Target, you will engage with vendors to deliver financial results and drive accountability to best practices with merchants and vendors. Applying business knowledge while documenting critical vendor income agreement details within the contractual system will be a crucial part of your role.
