JOB POSITION: Senior Engineering Manager
LOCATION: 7000 Target Parkway N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445
DUTIES: Lead a team of software engineers in developing code, deploying applications, and manage in production; manage overall software development lifecycle, driving best practices, and ensuring development of high quality code for common assets and framework components; serve as the technical representative for team during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning; architect and develop the best technical design and approach; drive partnership with Product, Design, and Analytics teams; drive product development and operations with lead engineers and drive technical decision making, adhering to Target platform architecture and other enterprise decisions; focus on team management and development with a focus on always hiring, retaining, and mentoring software engineering talent; write production code and be hands on active development of the capabilities and solutions; assist in defining infrastructure need, internal vs. external cloud and use of Target enterprise solution and drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, build and deployment and adhere to development and security standards; establish good stakeholder communication and work closely with Product teams and influence set product roadmap and help drive requirements while being a strong advocate of extreme agile and DevOps practices across engineers; manage stakeholder expectations, maintaining fine balance between delivery business initiatives and maintaining engineering excellence; utilize previous experience operating medium to large scale systems and experience with test-driven development and software test automation; build and manage a team of high performing engineers and provide leadership, coaching, motivation and recommend staffing levels, operating procedures, tools and systems for the team; provide career development and performance management to a team of 5 software engineers. Tools/technologies used: Ktor, Kotlin, Kafka, Redis, Python, MongoDB, WebFlux, APIs, Kubernetes, Gradle, GitHub, REST, Elasticsearch, Oracle, Maven, REST, Grafana, openAPI, RocksDB, Vela, CI/CD, JUnit, Oauth2, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Web, Spring Data, Java, Postgres, Google Cloud Platform, Hibernate, JDBC. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or closely related field and at least five (5) years of experience in development/engineering (any title) including at least two (2) years of experience with application development and application design, mentoring engineers, requirements gathering, application support, coding applications, performing code reviews, identifying and fixing bug fixes, implementing new APIs and distributed systems, analyzing and proposing new technologies, and using Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Web, Spring Data, Java, APIs, GitHub, JUnit, Oracle, Maven, and REST. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, the employer will accept two (2) years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. May telecommute from any location in the U.S. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
