SUMMARY:
Working closely with the Controller, the Senior Accountant is directly responsible for many accounting functions.  Direct responsibilities include cash reconciliations, prepaids, fixed asset accounting, sales tax returns and processing, maintaining the corporate debt schedule, preparing account reconciliations and journal entries in conjunction with month-end, performing some

inventory costing and variance analysis, and helping with many functions from the annual financial audit.  On top of direct responsibilities, the Senior Accountant will also provide indirect support and backup duties to other accounting functions as assigned. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reconcile cash accounts and oversee/manage vendor check issuance.
  • Maintains schedules of prepaid expenses.  Makes entries to record new prepaids and to amortize amounts down as appropriate.  Gets proper approvals/parameters from managers before setup.
  • Responsible for all fixed asset accounting.  Processing additions through the Capital Clearing account; setting up the assets in Pro Corp software, setting up depreciation amounts and periods, and booking monthly depreciation entries.  Records disposals and gain/loss on disposals.
  • Responsible for the sales tax process.  Create and maintain the sales tax reporting processes to complete sales tax returns and payments to 35+ states.  Responsibilities also include new state registrations based on new nexuses as needed.  Maintains online accounts with the states.  File and pay all returns based on monthly due dates.  Research various sales tax issues as required.  Oversee and act as the company lead liaison with sales tax audits.
  • Maintain the corporate debt schedule and add any new notes, maintain accrued interest, record any entries required, adjust Short-Term Maturities, and ensure debt schedule tie out to the general ledger.
  • Prepare various schedules for month-end.  These include the Revenue- Cost of Goods Sold Analysis, Cost of Goods manufacturing variance analysis, and standard cost overhead analysis.  Also prepares various schedules for cash, prepaids, fixed assets, debt, etc., as outlined above.
  • Process monthly Concur credit card transaction downloads to record company issued credit card related expenses.
  • Prepare all company outgoing wires.  Maintain the wire templates by vendor, and the master wire file showing all banking information by vendor.
  • Vouch, convert, and process expense reports for international employees.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit by providing subject matter expert support for responsible topics.  Work with the Controller to prepare schedules and manage audit functions during the year and throughout the actual audit.   
  • Verify W-9’s received from new vendors.  On an annual basis prepare and issue Forms 1099 and 1096 per IRS guidelines.
  • Cross train with other Accounting team members on back up Accounting responsibilities as specified.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of related work experience
  • CPA Preferred
