Description: The pay range is $85,500.00 - $153,900.00

We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a passion for exploring new technologies and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in e-commerce. As a key member of our web digital team, you will be responsible for researching, evaluating, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance our platform's capabilities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, UX, and accessibility consultants to deliver impactful features and experiences to our guests. This role requires a deep understanding of front end software engineering principles, strong problem-solving skills, and a creative mindset to tackle complex challenges.
As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the Target.com website. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and performant experiences. You are an expert in front end programming and apply your skills in web development for Target. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own, but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation. You show good problem solving skills and can help the team in triaging operational issues. You leverage your expertise in eliminating repeat occurrences.

Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the web technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, and maintainability. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Lead and conduct code review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Participate in functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions. Participate in routine and non-routine development, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues. Contribute to disaster recovery activities and planning.

About you:
- 4 year degree or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of web development experience
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in React, CSS, TypeScript, React Testing Library, Cypress, Git, and consuming RESTful web services
- Resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
- Experience working with Agile concepts & methodologies and communicating to partners within a product team
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
- Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with handling operational incidents and recovery on critical, high traffic sites
- Understanding what makes a performant web application and the underlying complexities that influence Core Web Vitals
- Experience building accessible websites
- Experience working on enterprise-scale products
