About You:
Project Management and Team Leadership Responsibilities:
- Manage the development of new programs from concept through customer approval
- Develop larger scale programs with higher complexity (i.e. - full medical devices, newer technologies, large-scale Bill of Material projects, etc.) through providing leadership and direction to cross-functional project teams consisting of both core team members and shared support resources
- Foster the growth and development of core team to maximize team dynamics and relationships
- Maintain highly organized programs through effectively and consistently communicating the status of critical project milestones and action items to appropriate internal and external stakeholders
- Report updates to management that meet the following objectives monthly and at time of project closure (taking into account customer driven scope changes):
- Completion of project on or before established target date
- NRE within quoted budget
- Part costs for all elements of project at or below quoted costs
- Predictable manufacturing status
- Anticipate and proactively mitigate challenges that may negatively impact development (short term) and/or production (long term) in the areas of cost, quality or delivery
- Effectively collaborate with Business Continuity Managers on project activity and strategy
- Continuously evaluate program resource needs to proactively support programs
- Oversee design for manufacturability internally and with customers
- Efficiently prioritize self-time and the time of project team members so as to maximize utilization
- Effectively delegate project tasks and actions to core team members and shared support resources
- Reinforce the successes of team members who perform well and provide timely constructive mentoring and coaching to those who are developing or make mistakes
- Identify and capitalize on cost savings opportunities (NRE and/or part cost) throughout project
- Provide Estimating staff with support and information in completing project related quotations as requested
- Provide support to Purchasing and Supplier Quality for all procured materials, components and outsourced processes related to projects
- Effectively work in a Project Engineering capacity as work load and resource needs dictate
Customer Focused Responsibilities:
- Both independently and working closely with BCM’s, continuously understand and manage expectations so as to maintain customer satisfaction and Company’s business objectives throughout program life
- Support customer interactions and meetings by defining and clarifying technical aspects of project
- Effectively negotiate critical elements of programs to maximize Company’s short and long term best interests
- Proactively seek customer intel on next generation and/or other new programs and provide feedback to Sales and business development leadership
- Establish, build, and maintain positive and growth focused relationship with customers
- Promptly identify and appropriately manage with customer, any cost/timing impacts driven by project scope changes
- Ability to travel for customer visits
Education/Experience:
- 4 Year Engineering Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering)
- 7+ years of experience in contract manufacturing within related industry
Other Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- Extensive experience with plastic tooling/processing, machining, secondary processes and assembly methods
- Extensive experience in medical component/device manufacturing
- Fundamental knowledge of mold construction and design
- Extensive experience working directly with customers
- Extensive experience in management of projects
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, MS Project, 3D CAD Systems (Creo, Solid Works) Adobe Acrobat
- Knowledge and application of statistics and SPC
- Comprehensive knowledge of blue print reading and GD&T
- Strong technical knowledge, analytical expertise and attention to detail
- Proven ability to ensure work is accurate and completed within a timely manner
- Ability to resolve complex manufacturing problems independently
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with multiple changing priorities
- Position requires you have the ability to work in a manufacturing environment
