ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Operations will lead, manage, and hold accountable all areas within Operations, including production & warehouse, quality, engineering, maintenance, and the tool room.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of 5-7 department managers; responsible for hiring, training, managing performance, and developing employees
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing related operations
  • Manage the budgets for equipment expenditures, direct/indirect labor, and overall operations expenses
  • Oversee production schedules and resource planning, based on product requirements and material supply; Review production, inventory, equipment capacity, and utilization regularly Initiate change as deemed necessary to ensure efficiency, on-time delivery, product quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of customers and market; partner with sales and design engineering to achieve customer standards and requirements
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and vendors as needed to ensure expectations are met
  • Direct engineering projects, ensuring deadlines, metrics, and budget/cost goals are met; guide engineers in launching new products and sustaining existing projects
  • Oversee overall maintenance of the facility, including maintenance of equipment, installations, repairs, and PMs
  • Identify and champion continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all ISO9001:2015 and other external/internal quality requirements as it relates to all products and services
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the production processes and all associated equipment; manage troubleshooting of manufacturing-related issues and identify resources and plans to resolve issues
  • Use ERP system to fullest capabilities to improve operational efficiency
  • Any other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations or equivalent experience in the injection molding industry
  • Minimum of seven years operations experience with a minimum of two years’ experience in injection molding preferred
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated ability to develop business, operational and financial strategies, plans and programs that foster the achievement of organizational objectives
  • Able to translate broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teambuilding skills
  • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong math and computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP experience
