About the Role
The company is seeking a visionary vice president to lead their demolition division, overseeing strategic growth, operational excellence, project estimating, project management and team leadership. Based in Minneapolis, MN, this leadership role will be pivotal in advancing their position as an industry leader in selective and interior demolition services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the demolition division and oversee project managers and field teams to improve consistency of work and staffing levels
- Assess and recommend enhancements to team structure, processes, and systems within three months to optimize efficiency and productivity
- Estimate project scopes, schedules and costs from blueprints/plans and developing detailed work plans to account for unknowns
- Secure subcontracting work and navigate bidding processes
- Direct all phases of demolition from start to completion while managing change orders
- Lead estimation, bidding, and management of larger-scale demolition projects
- Oversee and review all demolition bids to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
- Lead estimation, bidding, and management of larger-scale demolition projects up to $5 million
Education + Experience
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, ideally in construction management or business
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience leading people, including direct reports
- 10+ years of proven experience in selective and interior demolition
- Demonstrated success in leading teams and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Experience in structural demolition will be advantageous
- Experience in a union construction environment
- Experience in selective/interior demolition rates, estimating and project management in the twin cities market, and, ideally, structural demolition to take on larger future projects
- Background assessing building structures and engineering requirements for demolition
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Proficiency in managing projects safely within a professional union construction setting
- Understanding of regulatory documentation requirements for demolition projects and ensuring compliance
- Proficiency in managing projects within a professional union construction setting
- Established relationships with customers, particularly in distinguishing between private and public job sectors
- Established relationships with general contractors
- Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System)
- Local presence in Minneapolis for enhanced market understanding and effectiveness
