House Research Department

Minnesota House of Representatives

The Research Department is a non-partisan office of 27 full-time professional research analysts, plus support staff, which serves the entire membership of the House of Representatives and its committees.  The Department provides legal, quantitative, and policy research services to assist committees and individual Representatives in collecting and analyzing information and developing, drafting, amending, and evaluating legislation.

Responsibilities of the Director include:  research and other legislative services; general departmental management and administration; recruiting, hiring, assigning, supervising, and evaluating performance of professional and support staff; planning, development, coordination, and management of Department research efforts and products; relations with other legislative departments, government agencies, and outside organizations; assistance and recommendations to House members and leadership regarding staffing, research needs, and legislative oversight of research.

Candidates should have; graduate degree or equivalent training and experience; experience and proven ability in management and in public policy research; knowledge of government and the legislative process (experience in a legislative setting strongly preferred); non-partisan background.

Salary range: $142,101.36 - $255,782.64, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
