Job Details
The Statistical Analyst will work under the direction of a Psychometrician using specifications to write and execute programs to perform psychometric analyses and technical reporting using large data sets from large-scale educational assessments programs and/or products. The position requires proficiency and experience in work in assessment wherein quality assurance and documentation of code involving complex datasets are considered key competencies.
Essential Duties and Tasks
- Maintains, updates, and operates existing code for psychometric analysis as needed for educational assessment projects. For example, test calibration, test equating, item analysis, and dimensionality and reliability analysis.
- Develops new code as needed to support the psychometric requirements associated with large scale assessment programs.
- Documents programming procedures and files structures for each assigned project.
- Applies prescribed business rules to support the implementation of assigned projects and assists with QC of data analysis results.
- Reports questionable results as needed. Communication of concerns/insights within a functional team is essential.
- Manipulates large data sets.
- Creates tables and plots to summarize data for reports and presentations.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or related field is required. Master's is preferred.
- 1 year of statistical experience is required.
- Experience with psychometric programming within an assessment or related field is preferred.
- Must be proficient in statistical programming. SAS programming is preferred. R programming experience is also desirable.
- Experience with psychometric software such (e.g., WINSTEPS, IRTPRO, FLEXMIRT) is preferred.
- Must be committed to updating programing skills to support expansion and evolution of psychometric research needed to support educational assessment.
