CHINESE IMMERSION

ELEMENTARY TEACHER

Hopkins, MN - Develop lesson plans and instructional materials in Mandarin Chinese for elementary school grades Kindergarten to 6; provide individualized and small group instruction in Mandarin Chinese to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil; teach district- approved curriculum; translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences; establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere; evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and in a timely fashion prepare progress reports; communicate this information regularly with parents; identify pupil needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans; maintain a professional day, as defined by building/and contract; communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, e-mails, conferences; may plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips; may provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals; work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors; maintain and improve professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices; participates in a personal professional goal-setting process on a regular basis; and performs other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the administrator for effective school operation.

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Education, Teaching or a related field.

-Eligibility for a Minnesota Teaching License in Elementary Education

-Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese
