Director - Clinical Operations

The Director - Clinical Operations is responsible for providing positive leadership for the planning, development and evaluation of health care and related services offered to residents and clients throughout Ecumen. This position is a clinical expert who assists community leaders to provide exemplary care to those we serve while maintaining regulatory compliance and achieving organizational goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for providing guidance to community and organizational leaders to continually improve Ecumen's standards of clinical care and quality through the utilization of evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and ethical decision-making skills. Identifies areas of improvement, monitors progress toward goals, and supports a culture of accountability.
  • Collaborates with community leaders and service line partners to develop plans and set benchmarks that will promote achievement of organizational goals. Regularly connects with community leaders and visits assigned communities to educate team members, audit clinical procedures, monitor compliance, reinforce best practices, and verify internal and external reporting practices are upheld.
  • Participates in proactively preparing communities for regulatory surveys and investigations. Supports the interdisciplinary team during regulatory visits, collaborates on the development of plans of correction and monitors progress toward achieving compliance.
  • Leads and develops a clinical support team. Participates in candidate selection, ensures training requirements are complete and current, fosters a culture of engagement, and manages performance effectively.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises clinical policies and procedures to ensure that Ecumen's methods reflect current standards of practice and regulatory requirements. Assists with training team members on policies and supports implementation of standard operating procedures in Ecumen communities. Accountable for ensuring community practices are aligned with Ecumen standards.
  • Acts as an Ecumen champion for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and quality management activities. Ensures that Ecumen is providing high quality care to clients by monitoring quality measures, key performance indicators, and other operational metrics.
  • Participates in the hiring process for Clinical Leaders within Ecumen communities. Assists in onboarding and assimilation of new clinical leaders and serves as a mentor. Provides resources, tools, and education to health care professionals to help build strong leaders and promote team member engagement.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert regarding Ecumen's standard for delivering services to clients with dementia and Alzheimer's. Assists community clinical leaders to collaborate with providers, life enrichment professionals, and family members to provide person-centered care, support, and services.
Director - Clinical Operations Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Five years' experience in senior healthcare
  • Three years leadership experience
  • Minnesota Registered Nurse; ability to obtain licensure in assigned states. Must keep licensure current and in good standing
  • Licensed Assisted Living Director in MN or the ability to obtain within 1 year
  • Current valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient use of electronic health records systems, software programs, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State Regulations related across healthcare delivery models within senior services.
  • Working knowledge of quality indicators and measures across healthcare delivery models within senior services.
  • Budget management experience
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Five or more years of experience in senior healthcare leadership
  • Experience in home care and/or hospice; understanding of state, federal and other insurance reimbursement programs.
  • Multi-site leadership and/or new development/setup experience.
